Dr. Christina Whelan

Dr Whelan in pink blazer

I earned my first master’s degree in experimental psychology, my second in clinical psychology, and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I completed my internship and postdoc/residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and the OKC Veteran Affairs Medical Center. I have worked in a variety of inpatient (minimal) and outpatient (comprehensive) settings. This includes working with individuals from varying demographics (underserved populations, aka rural areas) with different values, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. I have been employed with the Veteran Affairs Administration for ten plus years, which involves providing mental health services in both rural and urban areas. Please feel free to ask questions regarding employment experiences, credentialing, and training.
Additional information about me, I have been married for over ten years, but I was divorced once. My husband and I have three children, which keep us busy and entertained. I workout consistently as I recognize exercise is as much of a psychological intervention as it is behavioral, and teaching is best done by leading by example. I am a huge animal lover and prefer being outdoors. I enjoy reading “nerdy books” as much as fluff. Feedback has taught me that I am relatable and easy to open up to, particularly with matters you may have never discussed. Increase your sense of agency by taking the first step by reaching out.
